We were picked from our hotel right on time by Marco. He was professional and yet friendly without being overbearing . He reminded us on what we needed to bring including an umbrella which was so helpful because it rained almost the whole time we were in Salzburg. The stop before getting to Salzburg for breakfast was a welcome treat because we had no time for one before our pick up time. Marco and Gabby were both exceptional . They were both knowledgeable and professional in their approach. This was definitely a great idea. Communication before and during our trip was also easy. You guys are the best !

Worth a day trip but unnecessarily long day

Pros: -Transportation provided to and from your hotel (van has wifi and waters) -Guide to Salzburg and separate guide when you reach Salzburg. Both good knowledge of the sites. -Seeing some other sites on the way (including parts of the gorgeous Lake District) Cons: -too early of a pick up … day trip could easily be trimmed down to avoid a 13 hour day -speaking of trimming the agenda … we did a stop at an Austrian road side place for food/coffee (for Americans it’s kind of like a WaWa or 7-11) and TWO lakes. The first lake was really beautiful (moon lake) as was the second but the second one (Wolfgang lake?) but the towns were empty (we went in April and were told summer is when it’s busy). Other than looking at the lake there was nothing to do? Could have easily been just one lake visit. Similarly the food stop could have been at whichever lake we stopped at because the rest stop wasn’t anything special. -we also had to bring our passports which I don’t like to do on day trips? But we never needed it just felt a bit anxious carrying it around for no reason.

Habsburgs and Mozart and an ode to 'The Sound of Music'

This was a thoroughly enjoyable day. The itinerary is accurately described. Especial praise must be given to Balasz and Philip, our guides for the day, with the former also doing the driving chores, to and from Salzburg. Their attention to detail, friendliness, and level of knowledge had been something to behold. I strongly recommend such an excursion, our minibus coach leaving Vienna and returning to the Austrian capital, and spread over 12-13 hours, as it turned out. The prior communications over the pick-up points was also clear and easy to understand. Best wishes Stephen

Our tour guide Balasz was very knowledgeable and professional. The trip is well organized and the time allocated per activity is adequate. Gaby, our local guide in Salzburg was excellent too. We felt very safe and the drive was worried free. It is definitely worth taking this day trip tour while visiting Vienna!

Excellent trip - a long day, but worthwhile. Some great sights along the way (a bit foggy unfortunately, but that made for some amazing photos in the mountains!). Marco was an excellent driver and tour guide along the way, David as the local guide in Salzburg was great as well, sharing lots of interesting information and stories! highly recommended, my 2nd tour with this company and end to end wonderful service.

This was an incredible day trip to Salzburg. It gave us a taste of the Austria countryside and Salzburg was an amazing town to visit. Marco, our driver, was professional and courteous and drove safely in a clean, roomy van. David, our guide in Salzburg, made history fun and interesting. we loved this trip. First time with Alligator tours, would definitely do it again!

The driver was very professional. He was informative and had a great personality and demeanor. He provided interesting information regarding Mozart and gave good insight and free time. The tour guide in Salzburg was well versed on the history of the area and its relevance to the reasons why we visited. If anything, the tour of Salzburg should have been less hurried but that might have resulted in less free time.

Great Guides for an Ambitious Day Trip!

A day trip to Salzburg from Vienna is ambitious, but White Alligator tours makes it possible with very personable and engaging guides. Johann was great at providing a wealth of information on the long trip out and Peter was our local guide in Salzburg, who led our group with humor and enthusiasm. The tour was full, but still only 8 people, who were a lot of fun to spend the day with. It was a much more personal experience than a big bus tour, and we especially enjoyed that aspect of it. Really nice big (and. Sparkly clean) windows in the van to see the country side. We definitely would have preferred to spend more time in Salzburg and the charming outlying areas, but a day trip affords only limited time to get a taste. Definitely leaves you wanting more!

Marco our driver was very friendly and knowledgeable. We stopped a couple of times on the way to Salzburg. First was a great place to get a bite to eat and I had one of the best apple cakes I’ve ever had!! The other stops were on a beautiful lake and then the church where Maria and Von Tropp got married on the Sound of Music. Salzburg was absolutely amazing!! It is quite a drive there and back but we’ll worth it in my opinion.

This was just an amazing experience! Although Salzburg is quite far away from Vienna, our driver Peter was entertaining us with interesting facts about Vienna and Austria, also there were several stops to have some rest and take awesome photos and enjoy the picturesque places! We also liked a lot Salzburg. Peter told us that our guide Maria is the best and this is 100% true! This tour is much much recommended!!! Thanks a lot to the organizers! ❤️

This was a great day trip. Peter was an excellent guide - providing the history, giving heads-up of what was coming on the right / left side, rest stops to stretch legs, use the restroom. Stopped at Mondsee and St. Gilgen along the way to Salzburg. Some time to explore on our own in these two towns. Dale was our guide in Salzburg who led us on a walking tour around the town providing history, seeing Mozart's home, places where the Sound of Music were filmed. Had about 2 hours to explore on our own before driving back to Vienna by Peter. Highly recommend this tour.

Peter was an excellent driver and tour guide. He was punctual and was very knowledgeable and was able to answer all our questions. He also provided us with water bottles which was a great plus. Dana, our local tour guide in Salzburg, was equally excellent and knowledgeable. Kevin from the office was also always readily available whenever I had questions about our tour. Beautiful city and great tour

We took the small group tour to Salzburg from Vienna in May. Peter was our guide. In this case small group was just 4 guests total in a minivan which was excellent. We left on Sunday morning so there was no truck traffic in the morning and made great time. Peter was a great guide. We stopped once for breakfast. Stopped at Mondsee to see the church where Sound of Music was filmed. Visited the lakes, then went to St Gilgan, saw Mozart house, then on to beautiful Salzburg. Peter handed us off to a local guide Dale who walked us around Salzburg, starting with the palace, gardens, the bridge, the old town, churches, Mozart house, etc. Great tour with tons of info. On completion of the tour, we had a couple of hours free for lunch and to walk around at our leisure before meeting Peter for the trip back to Vienna. It is a whole day tour and definitely worth the visit to Salzburg.

The best experience I have ever had! Enjoyed everything about the tour/trip. Very well organized. Amazing tour guides and driver. Very comfortable and clean transportation. Everything was perfect…visited many beautiful towns and Salzburg was such a beautiful city. We took lots of pictures where the movie sound of music was filmed. I highly recommend this trip. I will definitely book all my future trips/tours with White Alligator tours… thank you all for a wonderful trip to remember.

Peter, our driver and guide was amazing. Great knowledge of history and current news of Austria. I felt safe with him driving and he provided a wonderful experience. Our local guide (Dale) was informative and knew Salzburg very well, but the tour seemed chaotic and a bit hard to follow. I was more easily able to understand what we had learned after doing more research myself that evening. Overall, great trip!

High Class Professional tour

wonderful tour from bajaj very friendly guy with great knowledge and caring attitude, took care of our every need. very professional tour stopped at all the great places and never felt rushed, given plenty of time to take photos. In Salzburg again same professionalism from Gaby who lives in the city and gave us a great quick snapshot of the area and then we had a couple of hours to do what we wanted. highly recommended. vehicle also was very clean and nice mercedes van with leather seats and great free wi-fi provided which was essential for me as i had some work to do during the drive lol. free water supplied as well. my wife didnt come so there was only 3 of us on what looked like a 7 seater so plenty of room

A passionate tour of a beautiful city

Our driver, Balazs, made our trip fascinating and stopped at many wonderful and breathtaking stops along the way to Salzburg. Among them, St. Gilgen and the Mondsee were particularly spectacular. Our tour guide in Salzburg, Gabi, was the best. She has a deep well of knowledge about Salzburg and its history, and has great recommendations for what to do with your free time. Tour guides are what make day trips worth it, and I for one cannot recommend this trip more.
