We enjoyed it so much last Christmas see posting 30 January 2016 we did it again on our return to Vienna this Christmas. We were not disappointed. Many of the same places and a couple of new. The advantage of the second tour is you know pretty much what to expect and we could settle in and really enjoy the tastings. Spices, oils, vinegars, falafels, dried fruits, ham, cheese, olives, and mushrooms to name a few of the tastings and smells enjoyed through the tour. The Naschmarkt is part of the Vienna cultural heritage and should not be missed if you are in the city. This is a particularly great way to see it for the first, and second, time.
The guide was wonderful, very knowledgeable of the spices/vendors. Really enjoyed
Loved this tour- a great way to learn more about the city and see smaller streets close up ! My husband and I, along with our 3 young adult children took this tour- fun for all !
No one could have told us how nice this was! Three hours wondering through the Naschmarket learning about the local foods from the past and imported in the more recent years. Sampling of spices, oils, meats, cabbage, candies, cheese and pastries. A great tour for your first day, you will go back to buy more:-.
Excellent...if you are a Foodie! Erica, our guide was so informative and arranged tastings at various stalls with spices, cheeses, breads, etc, etc, Also wonderful eateries in the market...went back for the superb fish at the Nautilus fish restaurant.
Peter's wife was an amazing tour guide!! She had much knowledge about the history of the market, and also of all products sold at the market. We had an absolutely wonderful time on this tour, and would've enjoyed it to go longer. All the tastings were wonderful. Nothing but praise from our group!
Peter, our guide, met us at the beginning of the market and gave us our very own tasting spoons for the tour. We then began ambling through the market, with him describing foods, the processes involved in making them, their histories, where they come from, and how to use them in all kinds of dishes at home. His culinary background definitely shines through as he describes fabulous cooking ideas and spice combinations. We were the only 2 on the tour, so it was very personal, and Peter answered all the questions we threw at him. This tour was a delightful part of our Vienna visit and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city!
Outstanding tour...Peter our tour guide met us just outside the subway stop at the entrance to the farmers market. We strolled through the farmers market for the next 2 hours. He is a chef by training...and took us into various shops to sample honey, vinegar, cheese, meats and other delicious food. We also stopped along the way for coffee. Highly recommend if you are a foodie.
I was the only person who booked onto this tour but it ran anyways. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and she took me into many of the stalls to taste their goods. The guide went above and beyond and I loved her personal stories. It was a highlight of my visit and I definitely recommended it.
If u r interested in food/cook/ingredient, good to try.
The guide was very pleasant but helpful to inform history/background..
Was fun time in general, but didn't feel VERY essential.
We enjoyed this tour though it was a bit different from expected. The tour of the market includes some tastings but is not a food tour per se we went to lunch immediately after. Our guide was wonderful as she took us through the market and showed us the various international vendors and their offerings. In retrospect though, this was something that we easily could have done without a guide, so I'm not sure I'd recommend it.
This was very enjoyable. Peter was, so pleasant and a, great guide. This differed from food tours we've taken in the, past where you taste an abundance of food; but it was still great. We're very glad we did it.
Hard to find the meeting point, phoned the emergency phone no. but the lady was very unhelpful and impatient. So by the time we found the guide I was very frustrated, late and quite angry. The tour however was good and our guide very good. I would have liked to have tasted more things, example we were taken to a chocolate shop but didn´t get to taste any chocolate. Didn´t get anything to drink and were all parched by the time the tour ended. We went on the gourmet tour in Paris this year where we got to taste a lot more food and drink. Over all a very nice afternoon would recommend.
The guide was excellent and the Nach Market was very interesting. But, for the money we expected at least some small plates of food. We got next to nothing. We had a couple of pieces of cheese and a pickle. That is not a food tour.
