What You Can Expect

Vienna Historical City Tour with Schonbrunn Palace Visit

Visit the majestic Schonbrunn Palace on a city highlights tour

Your tour will begin with pickup from the Vienna Opera House, Südtiroler Platz or your centrally-located hotel. Hop aboard your coach, where you’ll be welcomed by your local guide.

Drive along the Ringstrasse, a boulevard showcasing some of Vienna’s most stunning architecture. Hear the rich history behind Austria’s ‘Opera Ball’ as you pass the Vienna State Opera.

You’ll also see the neoclassical design of the Austrian Parliament, City Hall, Burgtheater and the Museum of Art History. Witness the grandeur of the Hofburg Palace, where Marie Antoinette was born in 1755.

After exploring the city by coach, hop out on foot to roam the Baroque Schönbrunn Palace, where the Hapsburgs spent their summers. Comprising 1,441 rooms, follow your guide through the lavish interior and discover the stories behind this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Afterward, soak up some free time to walk the gardens, or head to the cafe to purchase a coffee or strudel.

Then, climb back in your coach with your guide and drive to the Belvedere Palace. Wander the incredible collection of Austrian art at a discounted entry price, admiring the 18th-century rooms where works such as Gustav Klimt’s Kiss are displayed.

If you’d prefer more free time to explore, you can walk the Belvedere grounds independently instead, rejoining your guide for transportation back to Südtiroler Platz, with additional complimentary transfer to the State Opera, if desired.

The tour provided a good introduction to a beautiful big old city as Vienna. Not only did the coach tour covered the famed Ringstrasse but also covered the considerable distance among the palaces at a reasonable time. Highlights, of course, are the guided tour of Schonbrunn Palace with amusing stories of the life and times of the royals, vast photo opportunities during the tour, and a visit to Belvedere Palace. We took the time on our own to explore Belvedere Palace, it actually took us a few hours to move around the museum and to enjoy the splendid gardens...an excellent way to cap our tour for the day.

Great trip and well organized! I do recommend to take a walk by yourself in Belvidere Palace which is the last stop from the trip. I love Vienna!

Great overall tour of the city and getting fast-track into the palace with a guided tour definitely helps. The palace is packed with people and probably not a good idea to do a self-guided audio tour. We also had some free time to visit the garden or to roam around the area.

Our hotel pickup was on time and after been taking to a central trip changeover point we were on our way for the historical tour based on the ring Strass

We received good information on each spot as we passed
The Palace visit was very good even allowing for all the other people there at the same time
This is an exceptional palace and needs several days to do it justice

The tour ended at the opera house and we continued on our own to St Stephens square for lunch

Needed to head back to our hotel to get ready for our evening dinner and concert
