Meet up with your guide in a central location and climb aboard the train to Krems and arrive in the Wachau Valley, famous for its striking landscape, top wines, and agriculture.

Strap on your helmet and hop on your bike for a leisurely ride. Take in the fresh air and learn about the region’s history from your guide as you pedal through a gorgeous pastoral backdrop.

Pull over at a few wineries along your route to kick back with a local wine tasting. You also have the chance to try the Wachau Valley’s celebrated liqueur.

Continue to the UNESCO-listed village of Dürnstein to wander for a bit on your own. Here you find the ruins of Kuenringer Castle, where King Richard the Lionheart was famously held captive in the 12th century.

Reunite with your guide for a final visit to a family-run winery. Purchase a lunch served in a typical family-run restaurant (sample menu available in the Itinerary) or bring your own lunch, if you prefer. Afterward, relax by the Danube River, playing a round of beach volleyball or taking a cool dip.

Your trip concludes with a brief ferry ride across the Danube. Then hop aboard the train and travel back to Vienna.

Best Outing

We took this trip on a beautiful day and that really helped. The landscape and vineyards were great because it was harvest time. Out guide was very good. She was very knowledgeable about the wines and grapes. The old towns we went into were great, especially the walled city. Bike ride was fairly easy. A couple people did have some minor problems at the end which was up hill a little.

Wine tasting and more!

Christina is an excellent leader and the standard of bikes provided is good. The cycling was straightforward and the 26k was done in stages on generally level terrain. There was also plenty of time to allow a hike up to Durnstein Castle and take in the views. An excellent lunch ( 11 Euros ) and 2 separate wine tasting sessions ( excellent locally produced wines) completed the day.

Amazing tour!

I booked this tour to explore outside Vienna in a different way other than walking. It was so much fun! The weather was perfect, the views were amazing, the people were great and our tour guide Christina was absolutely amazing. She made our entire Vienna trip... My Fiancé and I enjoyed talking with her and she was so friendly with the locals in the small town we stopped at. She made us feel so comfortable and tolerated us wanted to take pictures all the time. Wine was amazing and views were to die for. Book this tour if you love wine and good views with good people! Thanks again Christina! Vanessa and Chris - Toronto

My boyfriend and I had a WONDERFUL time on this tour. Christina, our guide, was fabulous and it really is the best way to get outside of the city and explore. We are 25, but the group was a mix of all ages and people from all over which was a great opportunity to meet new people. Highly recommend to anyone and everyone!

This was an incredible trip. I would not think twice before booking it. You have the opportunity to see the beautiful country side beside Vienna, meet lovely people, and spend the day experiencing lovely towns and nature! Cristina was an incredible tour guide, very kind, friendly and knowledgeable! There are opportunities to hike too on this trip. We had lots of fun! The photos do not do this trip justice, the valley is very beautiful. Highly recommend this trip!

ACE'd it!

The Wachau Valley is a stunning, wine-soaked, sun-rich paradise. Combine that with great company and a guide that has more interest in the guests having the best possible time than time itself, and it makes for the most spectacular day of cycling and sipping. Our guide, Esat (Ace), is a treasure. Do you know when you meet those people in the world who have such a positive outlook on everything that their good vibes are infectious and you just want to be around that person to enjoy the positivity. That's Ace. That's his superpower. The cycling was 90% flat. The views were excellent. Whoever your guide may be, insist on enough time in Durnstein to climb up to Richard the Lionheart's hillside jail cell. The view of the Danube in both directions is a work of art and it makes you realize that if you were imprisoned above such beauty, the real torture would be seeing the beauty but not being able to experience it. Great wine. Go for the drunken apricot.
