Wonderful tour.........insight is well presented. Excellent guide
This tour was awesome - - everything and more - Kenny was knowledgeable about the Washington, DC area history
and to top it off we were given tickets to the Museum.
Highly recommend this tour
The tour was excellent! Kenny, our guide, was well-informed, well-organized and pleasant. I thoroughly enjoyed visiting Anacostia, Howard University, the Frederick Douglas' National Historic Site, the monument to African-American soldiers, the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial and other sites. The National Museum of African-American History and Culture is awesome! I spent 4 hours in the museum and saw only half of what it has to offer.I look forward to returning to the museum in the near future.
My mother and I throughly enjoyed to tour. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and provide us with little known facts about Washington monuments. The bonus was getting access to the National Museum of African American History, which you can't do in one day but is fantastic!
This was an amazing tour from start to finish. We were picked up on time at the designated location. The vehicle was a brand new Mercedes Benz Sprinter, There were a total of 9 people in our tour and we all were very comfortable in this vehicle. Our tour narrator was Jamal and he did an outstanding job. I highly recommend this tour to anyone that is interested in learning more about African American History as it relates to the efforts put forth to build this great country. I learned alot and so happy that I chose this tour. Great Job Jamal......
Excellent, informative tour conducted by Jamal, who was patient and answered all questions put to him a very knowledgeable, intelligent and enthusiastic guide who provided a balanced, well-rounded picture of past and present African American history. I really enjoyed the quick visit to the African American Civil War Museum well worth a longer visit in its own right. Likewise the visit unaccompanied by Jamal to the well curated African American History Museum. A sombre and emotionally draining experience, but, in my humble opinion, essential to developing an understanding of the history and experiences of African Americans in the US, past and present.
Our tour guide Jamal shared his exceptional knowledge and passion for the citys history. He was very friendly and patient with every tour guest. I highly recommend this tour and Jamal as a tour guide.
This African American History Tour turned out to be much more than we expected.
Our Tour Guide Jamal was excellent. He was very knowledgeable and quite informative.
Jamal was able to answer any questions we may have had.
My Husband and I really enjoyed the tour and would definitely recommend this tour to our friends.
The Mills Family from Medford, MA
This is a fabulous tour and we had a great time! air-conditioned bus visit to the north side of the White House and Lafayette Square with ample time to take pictures. Next stop was the impressive World War II Memorial 2004 with restroom. Followed by a visit to the Thomas Jefferson Memorial 1943 with snackbar and a quick stop at the new Martin Luther King Memorial 2011. The memorial stop was a walking tour of the Korean War Memorial 1995, the Abraham Lincoln Memorial 1922 with restroom and Vietnam Memorial 1982. visit Cedar Hill was the Anacostia neighborhood home of Frederick Douglass, last stop was the African-American history Museum, must see!!!
This tour was very informative and relaxed. Our tour guide Kenny provided a lot of information about African American history and culture in the District of Columbia. However, these tidbits were not told to us at other tours. A definite MUST DO! The extra bonus were entry into the Smithsonian Museum of African America Culture.
Our group of three was running a little late and missed Kenny. He did return to the pick-up stop to get us. It would be helpful if he identified the pick-up location by building name, as well as the address. Kenny had many interesting facts to share along the ride, but we missed many of them, because he is soft spoken his voice did not project to those in the rear of the mini van. Kenny should have kept to the schedule and not allowed the passengers to opt out of stops, thus shortening the tour. Adequate time was not given at all stops. In our case the Civil War Museum stop was rushed and we were unable to tour the museum. Drive by points of interest were quick, so if you blinked or turned your head, you missed it.
Bottle water was not provided according to the printout, nor did we stop for lunch prior to going to the NMAAHC. The actual presentation and tour did not meet the online description.
A tour with 6 guest plus the driver, what size vehicle is appropriate? Based on my experience, I am unable to recommend this tour to others.
