Cherry Blossom and Monuments Cruise in Washington DC

Cherry Blossom and Monuments Cruise in Washington DC

Make your way to Georgetown and embark on a 50-minute cherry blossom cruise on the Potomac River. Settle into the climate-controlled lower deck or head to the open-top upper deck for premier views of the Tidal Basin draped in dainty blooms of pink and white.

For just two weeks each spring, the cherry trees of Washington DC show off their flowers for visitors flocking to the nation’s capital. You’ll get a panoramic look at these majestic blooms — a gift from the city of Tokyo — while relaxing on the double-decker boat.

Focus your camera on the blossoms reflected in the water or fluttering in the breeze, and hear live commentary about the history of Washington DC monuments. Along your route you’ll see the Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, Washington Monument and John F Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, among other landmarks.

Beverages are available for purchase on board before your cruise ends back in Georgetown.

Enjoyed the scenic tour. It was cold and windy when we went but lucky the boat has a heated closed in section so we were very comfortable. The captain was witty and even had cherry blossom lemonade on board.

We missed the cherry blossoms by a week but the boat ride was beautiful! It was a nice break from the wind. The captain was very informative and we enjoyed his narration and comments. I would do it again.

This family- friendly cruise was really comfortable on the outdoor upper deck, which has a wrap-around bench and tables and chairs. The captain didn't just narrate the usual historical facts on the monuments (I was interested to learn about Georgetown's industrial past), but shared knowledge about the geology and river ecology of the area. When the boat turned around for the return past the cherry blossoms (in full bloom!) the commentary ended and they played music, which some kids danced to. There was cherry lemonade for sale at the bar and festival pencils were passed out to kids -- a nice touch. We arrived early to catch the morning cruise and were relieved when we saw the huge line waiting for the next one!

Great tour! Family of 4 took a nighttime monument/memorial tour. Tour guide was knowledgeable and cheerful. What a great way to see the sites without having to pull out a map. We followed the guide and she gave us information about each monument and time to see it on our own. Thoroughly enjoyed the tour! Thank you.

The crew very kindly left us board the cruise ship an hour earlier than we were scheduled. The crew was very polite. Unfortunately for us...it rained..AGAIN for the second year in a row! The cherry blossom blooming time was changed overnight due to the rainy, chilly weather! Even still the Captain was very informative about the area, bridges, statues, etc which made the trip better. I would definitely do the trip again. Someone said Third time is the charm so maybe next year the weather will cooperate with us! I recommend the cruise as a nice, relaxing way to see and learn about our countries history!

We had done the monument cruise before and enjoyed it very much. There were 6 of us on this cruise and the sole purpose was to view the cherry blossoms. Unfortunately they weren't out yet!! It is a great cruise, though and a wonderful way to see DC.
