We really enjoyed this trip to Mount Vernon. It was a good way to get there without a lot of expense. We had plenty of time to see everything and have a snack at the restaurant as well. The driver gave very clear instructions and everyone was back at the bus on time. I would recommend this option for traveling to Mt Vernon from Washington DC.

Charles did an excellent job of sharing information with our group. He was a wealth of information and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Charles Smith was an excellent tour guide- very informative and personable. He gave a superb tour of Arlington and provided a lot of interesting facts. Would definitely recommend him as tour guide

Wonderful tour with our 13 and 12 year old grandchildren. Perfect amount of time at Mount Vernon site and added bonus of stopping at Christ Church in Alexandria. Would highly recommend with or without children. Nicely done.

The tour guide Charles was great. He was extremely knowledgeable, funny and accommodating. Mount Vernon was a wonderful tour site. Charles gave us "spot on" information about the site and encouragement on the special things to look for and the best dishes in the restaurant. The total experience was great.

The instructions to find the meeting place were confusing and we had to ask for help to find the place. Once the bus arrived and we got aboard, it was wonderful. The driver was the tour guide ---Charlie Smith--he gave a constant interesting and often humorous summary of the sights we passed by, including an extensive tour of old town Alexandria, prior to arriving at Mount Vernon. On the way back, the stories continued. All in all, the driver was outstanding. The tour was one I would recommend.

This tour was not really what we expected from the description and there were also delays. The tour guide, Charles, was a lovely man and very fun with his guiding, but for what we wanted, it was too much wasted time sitting on a bus by the side of the road hearing about places we had already seen in downtown Washington DC. Not sure if this was because the schedule was off, the bus showed up over 35 minutes late, then loaded and we finally left. Then stopped and would repeatedly sit by the side of the Washington Monument, Holocaust Museum and more before slowly making our way like half an hour of sitting to the bridge to Virginia. The tour of Old Alexandria is okay, it would be better to park and do a short walking tour. Huge bus on tiny streets and you just drive by the places except for Christ Church, where got out and short but nice tour by docent and sat in George Washington's pew. It took over two hours!! to get to Mount Vernon, not at all what we wanted to thought from the description. Once there, made our way to the mansion and stood in long hot line to go through the house and tours were being shortened by the staff since the line was so long. There wasn't much time to linger or see everything since we had to meet the bus to go back we had planned on eating at the restaurant. The Mount Vernon Inn is inexplicably closed until 4 p.m. after the lunch service too, hard to believe since a tourist location and people are visiting all day long. The food court is quite sad too, so if you do this tour - make sure you eat beforehand or have snacks packed. Just way too much stalling and delay and not enough time at Mount Vernon or in Old Town on foot. Our worst Viator experience though again, our tour guide was fine, it is the structure of the tour and for whatever reason, our bus was super late and the people manning the booth didn't care or apologize - though Charles did later. Strange, since this tour received great reviews. Hope this helps others pick the right tour. I would honestly take a car or metro and then a car.

Enjoyed our tour and Charles Smith was a very talented tour guide. He made the trip entertaining and provided a wealth of information along the entire trip. Make sure you stay at Mt Vernon as long as you can as there is a lot to see. Good value vs doing this on your own.

Also, just go to the bus location on the opposite side of the street from the Post Office and don't waste your time going to the tour office in the food court.

This trip was really good. There were only 5 of us on the bus. The driver/tour guide Charles A. Smith was fantastic! So knowledgeable and funny. Great sense of humor. He interacted with the passengers throughout the tour instead of just talking. I guess because there were so few people, he offered us the option of staying at Mt. Vernon for an additional 2 hrs! Worked out great.
