Friendly drivers. Love that we were able to hop on and off. Visited Georgetown. Drive told us he would be back at a designated time - showed up a few minutes early and we continued on our journey. Would be nice if there was a recorded English voice for all the landmarks.
The staff on the red line was great. John A and the rest of the staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. We actually did this for 2-48hr tickets. Great way to see the city at your own pace.
Great experience. We were able to see the places we wanted to see. No regrets.
this was not as great the buses did not come very often and was disappointed with this as we where only in Washington for the day
Not the best HOHO. First bus of the day was 30 minutes late. The narration was half taped and half live. and the taped portion was sometimes wrong about which way to look. And, the map was not always accurate in its placements of the stops.
Pro: Routes are well organized, staff is very helpful and friendly, buses are clean.
Cons: Information given over the headphones is very scanty, Internet maps of the routes differ from the paper versions, so if you plan not to miss the bus yellow route interval is 2 hours!, use the paper guide, which the staff gives you at check-in. Some bus-stops excluded from paper maps.
we sat below because of the weather, and both back windows were cracked, difficult to see thru. We also had a longer than expected wait time for the bus to pick us up...
This is hard to call. While we enjoyed the bus service from point-to-point and touring the city, the service seemed a bit inconsistent and unpredictable. Routes were modified slightly with the reason being explained and the team running the buses seemed a bit unorganized and less than professional. We watched another service that seemed to make themselves more visible and drive by more frequently. I'm really not sure we would use this one again if there is a next time.
Road closures due to parade and marathon on both days meant no service and left stranded on two occasions. Staff did not warn of issues and offered no assistance. Some drivers not friendly and guide available only once.
Dirty and the seats were torn. They left early at the Arlington Cemetery so, we took another company called Big Bus and they were excellent.
I have too many complaints to fit this space and will be writing to head office
Terrible experience. We bought a 2 day hop on hop off tour for May 8 and 9 and used it for only 6 hours. We were on three different buses. Two had audio problems and so we had no narration and the third broke down and we waited an hour for a replacement bus. We got tired of waiting and struck out on our own. A gigantic waste of money. Viator should subcontract with a different provider. Laurie Heim
This location needs a complete overhaul .. terrible terrible terrible. The staff at union station upon arrival was the most unenthusiastic bunch I have encountered my whole trip and the gentleman working the ticket taking at the bus around 1 pm that day was nothing short of rude and mismannered. I was told that buses run every 20 minutes - which is so not the truth, we roasted in some locations for as long as an hour before taking a cab or the metro bus.. seriously for an hour and 15 minutes we roasted in the sun at the Jefferson monument . You run your business on the fact that buses run every 20 minutes and god, if you get off the bus you may never get back on.. it was terrible terrible terrible.. we didn't even use day 2 of it, I wouldn't put my family through it. although what finally pushed us over the edge we waited at the holocaust museum stop at the sign posted with another family from England. not one but two buses passed up the 2nd bus had to stop due to the light and we asked if he was picking us up he said no catch the next one.. we waited 20 min longer and hailed a cab.. I wouldn't wish this unfortunate service on anyone.. ever... that being said there was one bright in this whole event. Jerome the audio tour guide on the night tour is an example that 9 out of 10 of your employees could take a lesson from, he was friendly from the get go, talking to people in line, making the kids laugh, knows his stuff around the city, made you feel at home.. that man deserves a raise and a promotion, he really could teach the other employees a thing or two. Serious kudos to Jerome who was on the night tour on thurs the 21st. The rest of our experience was just terrible and a flat out waste of money.. services were not given as advertised and resulted in us spending even more money on alternate transportation..
The bus did not show up. We waited for 1 1/2 hours for the bus and finally used another service. Horrible Service
I was not impressed with this hop-on-hop off tour. I know that it was the cherry blossom festival and there were a lot of people and traffic. However, both times we got on the bus in the morning, there was NEVER a tour guide. I was under the impression that ALL buses would have a tour guide. The first time we even got on there was not even an audio to listen to know what stop we were stopping at. Also several of the people working at the counter where extremely rude and not helpful at all. I will NEVER use this tour again.
You weren't advised, when you could exit the bus. No interaction with rider all information was pre-recorded. You weren't advised how to do a transfer. Would not recommend Citysights tours.
If you are in a mood waiting for buses for a really long time ex, Georgetown loop every 2 hours, the other ones 1-2 per hour, then book with that company. Seems like Big bus company was much better choice, since I saw them a lot while waiting for my bus. Not exactly hop on hop off experience.
