Get to know Washington, DC's thriving beer scene on these guided daytime and evening brewery tours. Chat with brewery owners and learn about the equipment used to make beer, the brewing process and, of course, what all the different kinds of beer taste like — at least 15 to 20 of them, in fact.

Meet the expert beer guide and the rest of the tour group at the Smithsonian's Donald W. Reynolds Center for American Art and Portraiture. Learn from the guide about the beer-making process and what to expect during this inside look at four different DC- and Virginia-based breweries. This 5-hour tour is perfect for beer beginners, aficionados and home-based brewers alike. Also, find out what foods pair well with different styles of beer on either the daytime (lunch) or evening (dinner) tour.

On the daytime tour (departing at 11 am), enjoy tastings of at least 15 beers at four different breweries, with lunchtime food pairings at either Brookland Pint, an elevated gastropub serving New American dishes, craft beer and more; or Capitol City Brewing Company, a spacious brewpub with signature beers like Capitol Kolsch, plus a varied selection of pub grub.

The evening tour (departing at 5 pm), on the other hand, showcases DC's bustling nightlife and brewpub scene, combining old-school brew houses with some of the most popular microbreweries in the area. Enjoy tastings of 18 to 20 beers, with a dinner food-pairing at Capitol City Brewing Company.

Some of the breweries featured on either the daytime or evening tour could include any four of the following: Public Option, Capitol City Brewing Company, Port City Brewing Company, Bardo, DC Brau Brewing Company, District ChopHouse and Brewery or Hellbender Brewing Company.

This tour is a great way to spend a day in DC. Our tour guide, Steven, was engaging and knowledgeable about the history of beer making, the current beer making process and DC. He also reminded us and showed us the different ways each brewery performed their process. The selection of breweries and tastings were perfect. The personnel we interacted with at each of the breweries were professional and welcoming.

Had an awesome tour guide, who was very knowledgeable. Great way to see parts of the city not on the beaten path, not to mention awesome food, and great beer.

We went to 4 different breweries in the NE area of DC. Our guide, Isaac, was very entertaining and knowledgeable. We tried a wide variety of brews. After visiting 2 sites, we went to a restaurant for a great meal. The folks we met on the tour were a lot of fun!

2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better August 2016

On the surface, this seems to be the best beer tour everbut what a disappointment, especially for the . The guide was very knowledgeable about the beer-making process, but not very engaging. The first brewery was great! Fantastic beers, fun atmosphere, but it went downhill form there. Too much time spent in the van driving between breweries, and the last place was just kinda creepy. Dinner was advertised as not appetizers, but that's exactly what we gota plate full of apps. Recommend this tour only for the very adventurous.
