What You Can Expect

Spectacular Ten Lakes Day Trip to Borrowdale, Buttermere and Beyond from Windermere

Ten Lakes Spectacular

After morning pickup from Windermere railway station or your Windermere, Bowness-on-Windermere or Ambleside hotel, journey into the heart of the central Lake District by air-conditioned minivan.

As you travel, admire the rolling countryside and craggy fells, and hear interesting facts from your guide about the Lake District's history and geology, and the people and events that have shaped this much-loved region. Follow the banks of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake; and make your first stop in the lovely village of Ambleside. Stretch your legs around the pretty streets and then continue to Rydal Water for a photo stop.

After capturing the scenery around this mirror-glass lake, continue through the picture-postcard village of Grasmere and ascend Kirkstone Pass, the region's highest pass, on route to Thirlmere, a reservoir formed from the merging of two natural lakes. Admire this picturesque expanse of water, and then travel through the lush Borrowdale Valley and past Bassenthwaite Lake.

Climb the rugged slopes of Honister Pass to the chocolate-box village of Buttermere and then drive by Crummock Water to Keswick. Here, pull up to enjoy free time for lunch (own expense) and explore this delightful market town as you wish.
Back aboard your minivan, venture further around the undulating hills to Castlerigg Stone Circle, an ancient circle of 48 stones. Take photos of this age-old site and learn how the stones were probably set here in around 3,000 BC to form a ceremonial site. During your trip, visit one of the area’s pretty waterfalls, and relax on a scenic lake cruise. As you sail, drink in the awe-inspiring views of the high fells, woodlands and villages, and absorb the sense of timeless beauty around you.

After roughly six to seven hours of exploring, your tour finishes with a drop-off back at the original start point.

This was the best way to see the lake district in one day. The mountain goat small tour bus picked us up from our hotel and we saw so much more than we would have been able to see on our own in a day.

If you have never been in the Lake District, have little time and no car, but want to see more of the area, this tour is a great start. Lisa was a great tour guide and on top of it, we were blessed with glorious sunshine. Lots of interesting information and random facts, we thoroughly enjoyed the tour.

Trip was spectacular. Jerry was our driver and he was so good. So much passion he has for Lake district. Just when I thought I have seen all in UK I found this gem and it is so beautiful. It was beautiful weather and Jerry made sure all of us are happy. I requested to see blue bells in woods and he kindly obliged to it. Many lakes, peaks are covered in this trip and it just covers whole of lake district in a day giving you idea of what it is being here. I highly recommend this trip as I had made so many memories here
