What To Expect

Meet a driver at your Zagreb hotel or a central location (see Booking details for more information about hotel pickup), then begin the journey to Ljubljana in a climate-controlled vehicle, crossing the border into Slovenia en route. Upon arrival in Ljubljana, stretch your legs on a walking tour of the center, learning about Ljubljana history, architecture, and culture along the way.

See a quirky cement bridge decorated with dragons, long a symbol of Ljubljana, and board a glassed-in funicular railway up to the Ljubljana Castle, a medieval fortress with views across the city.

From the castle, continue to Lake Bled, with views to the Julian Alps, a rocky stretch of mountain peaks that extend from Slovenia to Italy. You have an aerial perspective on the lake from the ramparts of Bled Castle, which is perched high above the water on a rocky outcropping. Descend to the small town at the edge of Lake Bled for a walk by the water, or stop in a local café to try the local specialty, a cake layered with fragrant vanilla custard.

Following your time at Lake Bled, begin the return trip to Zagreb, where this tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel.

Actually will recommend one night stay in Slovenia near Lake Bled to immerse in its beauty and take a stroll along the lake.
The drive was comfortable and unrushed, I would recommend this tour if you want an overview of both of these locations.

Beautiful Scenery
Joe_B, Nov 2022
Met at the Meteorological Point in Zrijevac park. Three of us on the tour plus our wonderful guide Maja. Once across the border, we made good time to Ljubljana. Beautiful weather enhanced the scenery even further. A truly beautiful place to visit. Make sure to try the local cuisine! We had free time to make our own way around Ljubljana for an hour, then onto Lake Bled. A wonderful dramatic location, and an opportunity to sample some Bled cake. Then back to Zagreb for the evening. Our guide Maja was excellent. Very knowledgeable and happy to answer questions, and made my trip to Slovenia a wonderful day. Highly recommend

We loved that Slovenia could be added as a day trip from Zagreb. Lake Bled was beautiful, especially in October with the fall colours starting to show. The trip was well organized with tours as well as free time in both Ljubljana and Lake Bled. I would recommend this tour as a bonus country to anyone travelling to Croatia. Definitely try the cream cake at Lake Bled.

I absolutely loved this tour. I was booked onto this tour with my friend and we were expecting other people to be on it, but it was just me and my friend, so that was perfect. Maja, our driver and guide was so welcoming and friendly, informative about every question we asked about Croatia and Slovenia and easy to talk to. Ljubljana is a beautiful place and we saw the castle there as well as some other interesting places in the city. Lake Bled was absolutely stunning and to see it in the winter, surrounded by snow was a real treat. The castle here too is fantastic and gives amazing views over Lake Bled. We were comfortable all day and Maja was very accomodating. She took me to get some authentic Lake Bled Cake which was delicious and recommended other places to visit. Great tour if you want to see two of Slovenia's nicest places in one day. Definitely book!

This was a great tour worth the long drive of three hours from Zagreb. Maja, our driver, was very nice and helpful, very pleasant personality. Our tour guide in Ljubljana, Alenka, was very knowledgeable and had a great personality as well. Both, Ljubljana and Bled Castle offered very beautiful views, in my opinion this was a worth booking tour.

Maja was warm and gracious. We met a local guide, Ilenka (s/p), in Ljubljana and she was just as helpful and courteous. Lake Bled is definitely something you want to see before you leave this Earth! FunFact: Ljubljana is one of the cleanest & greenest cities in the world!
Response from Host, Jul 2021
Thank you so much for your kind words. We really appreciate you taking the time out to share your experience with us and do hope to see you back in Croatia in the future!

We really enjoyed our trip. Gorin (our tour guide) was really knowledgable and professional. The local tour guide in Ljubljana was really great, and the city was beautiful to visit. Lake Bled was amazing! I would recommend this for anyone visiting Zagreb.

Filip was our tour guide for our day trip to Ljubljana and Lake Bled. In a small group of five his local knowledge was welcomed. The man is an encyclopaedia on all things Croation and Slovenian. The venues were really beautiful and should be included in the list of places to see for anyone visiting Zagreb.

Fantastic tour! Filip from Petros Tour was professional, veryknowledgeable andwas thebest guide I hadduring my 2 weeks visit. Each sitewas filled with interesting stories from Filip.Never a dull moment! View from Castle of Bled and Lake Bled were amazing.Do not miss the Kremna Rezina from Lake Bled.Alenka, the local guide in Ljubljana, was veryfriendly andknowledgeable. I chosethis tourbecause of theguaranteed departures. Extremely important when you have limitedtime in Zagreb. There were only4 of us, we had so much fun andthe day went by quickly. Last, but not least... I was so impressed with this day trip that I ended up booking Feel the Pulse of the City from Petros Tour on the following day. I got to visit places that were not even in the tour books!

This was the highlight of our trip. We my husband and I were picked up by our guide Filip in Zagreb and we traveled by car to Lake Bled. On our journey, Filip gave us an overview of the history of Zagreb,Ljubljana and the wider former Yugoslavia states. He managed to strike the balance between professional and friendly and informative and fun. Arriving firstly at Castle Bled, Filip gave us a guided tour of the castle and then a brief history of Lake Bled, it's island and the Monastery. After a walk around part of the lake and some refreshments we headed to Ljubljana. In Ljubljana we met with a local guide Alenka, who walked us around the capital, explaining the cities highlights and history. After an hours free time to walk around the city we returned by car to Zagreb with Filip. This was an amazing trip, it was interesting, informative and fun. I can't speak highly enough of our guides, who were both so relaxed and friendly and so obviously wanted us to enjoy our day. Bled and Ljubljana are both beautiful and fascinating destinations and this is the perfect way to visit them and learn so much about them. The trip is amazing value for money and I can't give any higher prize to our guide Filip than to say that it felt like a day out with a friend rather than a guided tour. I can't recommend this trip enough!
Ljubljana and Lake Bled Full Day Excursion from Zagreb

My wife and I really enjoyed this day trip to Ljubljana and Lake Bled. Our driver, Luka, who was also a guide for a part of the trip, arrived in good time to pick us up in a comfortable minibus, where there were 5 of us altogether. He was full of interesting information and was kind and courteous throughout. When we arrived in Ljubljana, we were met by our local guide for the walking tour of Ljubljana, Urša, who was excellent at explaining the history and legends of the area. She even brought us to a free tasting of locally produced liquors and honeys which went down very well, and knew her stuff when she was asked any questions. We then met up with our driver Luka again after lunch and we travelled to Bled Castle and Lake Bled, who was our guide for this part of the tour. He was very knowledgable in the history of the area, and made sure all of us were comfortable when accessing some of the steeper parts of the castle pathway, before we were safely transported back to Zagreb in the evening. Overall, this was an excellent experience, and I would highly recommend it to anyone planning this day trip from Zagreb.

Saved the best for last

After an organized tour of Croatia and Bosnia, my daughter and I added on a day trip to Ljubljana and Lake Bled. We had seen the photos and decided it was a must see stop. We had spent 9 days with 43 strangers and were looking forward to a small group tour. We were very fortunate that the other people scheduled for this tour backed out at the last minute leaving the two of us with a private tour. With only two paying customers, you might expect the guide to make a half- hearted effort , but nothing could have been further from the truth. After learning we had had some illness and bad weather on our first tour, Luka vowed to give us his very best. Luka tailors his tour to meet the interests of his clients. I have been on plenty of "canned tours" where the guide knows only his script. This is not the kind of tour you will get from Luka. We told him we were interested in history, economic, politics and culture. We were both amazed by his breath of knowledge, not only on these subjects but also on architecture, geology, music, pop culture, and international affairs. I was convinced he had spent time in America because of his mastery of English and American slang, but he has never visited. He is remarkably well read and assimilates the information he learns from his clients on his tours. ( We were blown away by his ability to discuss John Adams and his contribution to the American revolution in addition to things like the American Jazz Age). Luka offered a nice balance of a guided orientation tour with free time to wander and take photos. We had a local guide in Ljubljana who we absolutely loved. She was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. The two of them offered suggestions on places to eat in both locations which proved to be excellent. Both sites were truly lovely. We were blessed with perfect weather- somewhat cool and very sunny, so that enhanced our experience. If you only have one day to see Slovenia I don't think you could pick a better company or guide. It was the favorite day of our entire trip.

What a fabulous tour! I was at first hesitant to travel to a different country from Zagreb, but it was easy, seamless, no trouble at all. Our guides pointed out the road sign that showed the way to Melania Trump's hometown. In Ljubljana, we had a local guide, Alenka, who was so friendly and knowledgeable. At Lake Bled, we had time to walk the lake path, visit the castle, buy their famous cream cake. It was all so, so great.

We recently went on a small group tour of Lake Bled and Ljubljana from Zagreb. We were met at our hotel by our guide Filip, who was our also our driver for the day. Lake Bled was beautiful. We visited a castle and later had lunch by the lake. Afterwards Filip drove us to Ljubljana where we were joined by an excellent local guide. We went on a very interesting walking tour of the charming surroundings. There was a great dynamic between Filip and the local guide and it made the walking tour a lot of fun. Filip is very passionate and knowledgeable of the local history, but more importantly he is very engaging with his group and has a great sense of humour. All of his stories were very informative, but were also very funny as well. Learning about the history was actually fun. We have travelled quite extensively throughout Europe and have been on many tours, and can confidently say that Filip stands as one of the very best guides we have ever had. We really recommend his tour company and would have loved to do more tours with them. Pro tip, the answer to nine out of ten of Filip's pop quizzes is Nichola Tessla.

Our tour guide made this journey exceptional. He was a history buff and I learned more from him in 2 hours, than I did on any of my other tours combined. Ljubljana is beautiful as is Lake Bled. I do wish we had more time in Lake Bled, you do not get enough time to see go on the island.
