Plitvice Lakes was a downer. It was crowded, and our guide did not really provide that much information. All she said was the big lake and the small lake. She did not even provide maps (which you can get for free when buying tickets), nor explain what we are seeing. The guide for our walking tour, I am sure is very very knowledgeable. But he was intent on answering questions from the group, that I think some of the more salient information were missed. We were better off with the free walking tour, where our guide truly provided in-depth and cohesive info.
walking tour with Andrea was very informative and a good length. Plitvice lakes was great but it is strenuous and not for those with walking issues. summer months are extremely crowded and should be avoided. October was perfect plus change of leaf colors was a bonus.
Tammy for the Lakes tour was amazing. We hiked 8 miles in steep, slippery terrain, but the views were amazing. It is not for the faint of heart. The food at Plitvice Lakes was overpriced burgers. The city tour was great, had an amazing view but needed more local spots. Excellent value for both!
Andrea was a very good tour guide on both tours. I really enjoyed them both. Highly reccommend. Plitvice Lakes are a must see. I can't imagine anyone being dispapointed with these beauties! The walking tour the next day was quite interesting and educational.
Tami was excellent! She was full of information and enthusiasm, attentive and funny. A very pleasurably couple of days with someone who clearly loves her country and is happy to share that with others. We learnt and saw a lot. Excellent recommendations and advice from her. All facts and history were relevant to the time and situation, exactly what was needed.
The spectacular scenaries saved our day. The overworked? tour guide was unenthusiastic and was only interested in finishing her day early. Although it was not particularly crowded that day, she steered us off the highest waterfall where all other groups were heading and she did not offer us the train ride as advertized. Of our group of 13, 2 rebelled and took the train ride while the rest of us waited for them. In the end, we still managed to be back to our hotel by 4:30 pm. It goes to show that the tour guide was being lazy. The lakes are no doublt worth the trip but Viator can find a better partner.
Tammy is an excellent guide. Full of enthusiasm, excellent communication and fun. She is a little bit crazy but in a great way.
The itinerary was also excellent. The places visited were spectacular. There were only 3 of us in the tour and it was cloudy with patchy rain at times but that didn't dampen Tammy or our spirits because Plitvice is so beautiful. And April is a great time to go because the waterfalls look amazing and there are less people so there are plenty of opportunities to take photos without bumping into so many tourists.
The fact we were given options to explore further, if we wanted to, was great. We did, and it was worth the effort.
Plitvice was the highlight, of course. But Rastoke was also a fantastic place to visit. I hope you get Tammy as your guide and ask her about the best local beer.
We did a short walking tour of Zagreb the next day which has become our own private tour. It was very informative as we were taken to areas where we would have not gone to on our own. Would have been a bit better if we did the walking tour earlier on our stay in Zagreb but still was still great even on our second last day there.
This tour is a must. Both were led by the marvelous Tamara, who is one of the best guides ever. She is knowledgeable and prepared. Her conversational English is the best. The walking tour of Zagreb was chock full of information and a great way to become familiar with the upper and lower cities. Insist on Tamara if you can0- it will make your visits to Zagreb and the breathtaking Plitvice Lakes thoroughly enjoyable.
