What You Can Expect

Zakynthos Shipwreck Beach Excursion

The famous Shipwreck Beach in Greece

Begin your 6-hour tour with pickup at your hotel in Zakynthos or a convenient meeting location between 8:30am and 9:30am. With your small group, climb into an air-conditioned coach and set off for Porto Vromi, located on a picturesque bay.

Meet your boat captain and step aboard for the 30-minute journey to Shipwreck Beach, where you'll spend an hour exploring and swimming. Snap photos of the enormous boat that ran aground on the beach in 1980, giving the beach its name.

Back on the boat, cruise past the nearby sea caves, one of which has Poseidon's face carved in the rock by the crashing waves. On the journey back, stop in a local mountain tavern for a traditional Greek lunch (own expense).

Your tour ends with drop-off at your original departure point after 6 hours.

The coach picked us up on time at our hotel and was arranged fairly effortlessly. They will email you the day before confirming the pick up time. Sue was an amazing friendly tour guide and told us a lot of local information on the ride. If I had known she offered a turtle excursion as well I would have rearranged my schedule. Navagio beach is a must do while in Zakynthos and travelling there with Sue was a 5 experience. They stop off at a nice Taverna as well which was tasty food and good service. Definitely recommend this tour!

We had great time but only cause this was our second visit to Shipwreck beach. Guide was great with lots of interesting stories. Loved the stops for swim. Cherry on top is Greek lunch in old taverna. Recommended for sure.

Great experience! I booked this excursion as the image of the Shipwreck Beach had been haunting me for the last years. While surfing on the internet for a day trip to the famous beach, I found Viator option which ended up being the best option: transfers from the hotel to the departure point and back to the hotel included, reservation process easily accessible, great service provided by both bus driver and our guide sorry, I don't recall her name, but she's a great asset to the agency providing the trip.

The bus, the boat and the crew were all great. I recommend water shoes for the beach. The pebbles can be large and painful on even the toughest feet.

Excellent day out, Good to be able to see more of Zante whilst travelling to the port to pick up the boat,Our guide Sue was very informative. The boat trip was good to the wreck but a bit disappointed in the wreck once we got there. There were so many people there it was hard to find a space to put your towel own, so many boats it was dangerous to get in the water and the boat was just just covered in graffiti. After the boat trip we stopped on way back to our hotels at a Travena for lunch which was very nice.

Sue and team provide a first class excursion - felt like a concierge service. Very informative yet not hurried at all. The Shipwreck beach is worth visiting although it tends to get crowded due to the constant influx of tourists. However, this excursion has more than the beach - it takes you to caves for a swim and shows you many beautiful sights.

This was the first tour we went on as part of our holiday and fully enjoyed the experience. The shipwreck beach was great, although be prepared for it to be quite busy. We also had the chance to have another swim in one of the caves before reaching the beach which was a great addition to the trip. The tavern we stopped at for lunch was also great with freshly cooked greek food and really friendly service. This is a great trip for anyone and I would really recommend.

This tour is amazing with Susan, our guide sharing all the bits and pieces of Zakynthos and this place is truly beautiful with incredible bluish water from all spectrum of blue.
The shipwreck beach was already filled to the bream when we reached but nevertheless the beauty just sinks in.
Susan encouraged us to dive in the Blue Caves area for a short dip and that was an exhilarating diveand many took up the offer and these are what memories are made of.
Thanks for this wonderful tour

Must do excursion!! Took around 40 minutes on the coach to get to the boat, but wow! Sue, our exceptional tour guide kept us informed of where we were each step of the way and told us all about the island, its history and the people. She is extremely knowledgeable and it is apparent how much she cares about Zakynthos! The views from the bus were incredible and the driver was brilliant as there were some pretty hairy bends in the cliff roads that he manoeuvred very skilfully! Although the weather was glorious, topping 41 degs, the water was pretty choppy so our glass bottomed boat was thrown about somewhat but the clever captain kept the boat on course to Shipwreck Cove - was like having a white knuckled ride thrown in for free but super fun! The colour of the water around the shipwreck cove has got to be seen to believed - pictures do not do it justice at all, it is an amazing shade of turquoise due to the limestone on the sea bed. Unfortunately because the water was so choppy none of the boats could access the island but it meant that we got photos of the shipwreck without other tourists in the shot and the surroundings were so beautiful that it didn't matter that we couldn't get onto the beach. We then headed back for a swim stop in some local caves. The water here was 6m deep so only good for strong swimmers, but it was amazing! super cold by the way, so jump off the boat to get in quick! After the swim stop we headed back to where the boat was moored, passing Poseidon's face in the cliffs, and had 40 minutes on the small beautiful beach nearby for another swim and sunbathe. Once again on the coach we headed off to a fabulous restaurant in the mountains, Galaxy Taverna I believe it was called, where the food and service was incredible this was the only additional cost on the trip but it is worth it trust me! We had a very lazy lunch then all headed back to our resorts on the coach. This was a truly fantastic day! My husband, myself and my three boys aged 11, 10 and 6 rated this 10 out of 10 and would so do it again in a heartbeat. Sue is an amazing tour guide - informative, knowledgeable, entertaining and makes sure everyone has what they need and that they are happy.

Our group were staying at Zante Plaza Hotel Apartments in Laganas, it was then a pleasant 1 hour bus journey to the dock with 1 change of bus around half-way. The bus was at the pick-up location outside McDonald's on the main strip before we got there whereas with the Turtle Spotting Cruise that we did the day before, our bus was at least 20 minutes late but just hold out and keep and eye on all the many buses that pass your pick-up point. At arrival at the dock there were shops and refreshments around to purchase before the journey, useful if you'd skipped breakfast. The boat tour took a good 45 minutes to reach Shipwreck Beach but the scenes on route are incredible. Well worth taking lots of photos and videos but be careful with cameras and phones when doing so as the journey is quite rocky. The journey is refreshing and not nauseous in the slightest. Shipwreck is very popular among many tourists, this was evident from the amount of people and boats at the beach. The only downside is that we only got an hour on the beach. An extra half-an-hour would've been great! You follow the same route back to the dock and stop to swim in the blue caves. This was an amazing experience! Your feet don't touch the ground in these waters so you'll need to be a strong swimmer! But swimming in the waters of the cave and at the beach is so satisfying - never seen or swam in such crystal clear blue waters! You arrive back at the dock and there's a very good restaurant in front of you. You'll be very hungry after all the swimming! Thank you to the male tour guide who was very friendly and knowledgeable!
