What You Can Expect

Bern Day Trip from Zurich

Explore Bern during your day trip

Greet your guide at a central Zurich location and climb aboard a comfortable, air-conditioned coach destined for Bern. Get acquainted with the rich history of the region and admire the scenic Entlebuch Valley as you pass through the UNESCO-listed Biosphere Reserve.

Make your first stop at the Kamply Experience, a premium biscuit factory cradled by the green landscapes of the Upper Emmental Valley, and see how the sweet specialties are produced during a demonstration. Sample a few treats before returning to your coach for the onward journey to Bern.

On arrival in Switzerland’s medieval capital, explore the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Old Town on a guided tour and see popular attractions like the 100-meter spire of Münster and Bern Cathedral as you stroll.

Spend some leisurely free time exploring Bern after the tour, perhaps refreshing with lunch in a local restaurant (own expense). Return to your vehicle for the scenic drive to an Emmental show dairy. Once there, peer into a production hall to see the manufacturing process behind the world famous cheese, and then try the Swiss delicacy during a tasting session.

Bid your guide and group farewell on arrival at a central Zurich location.

I originally was going to go to Bern by myself on the train and explore the city using my guidebook on the last day of my trip, but I enjoyed the other tours in booked for Switzerland so much particularly the ones run by Best of Switzerland tours, which this one was that I decided to do this tour instead. I'm so glad I did this! It was such a fun day, and I enjoyed the variety of activities that I would have missed out on if I had done it on my own. Bern was a beautiful city and I felt the amount of time there was adequate for what I wanted to do look at the fountains, clock, architecture and take some pictures, see the bears, learn some history. The samples at Kambly were good and I really enjoyed learning about how cheese was made and trying the cheeses. Our small group was so much fun, and our guide, Andreas, was outstanding! He was very nice and I learned so much. The drives in the countryside were so pretty and the guide provided a wealth of information.

Excellent day tour! See the beautiful scenery of Switzerland as you travel to a delicious biscuit(cookie) factory. Then off to Bern to see the city and it and #39;s rich history and parliament, and then up to the high green pastures of emmenthal to a cheese maker w/ tastings. Truly a great adventure!

Richard our driver/guide was excellent! Bern is beautiful and Richard did a great job showing us everything. I thought the stops for biscuits and the show dairy would be boring, but they were both worthwhile. The biscuits are excellent and the unlimited samples made for a nice mid morning snack and Richard's talk at the diary made it very interesting plus the location is beautiful and the cheese was great. Excellent day out!

Great guide and great day.

Not a popular trip as our group only had 6 4 of us from the same family even though Bern is a beautiful place to visit.
Our guide-cum-driver was knowledgable and gave good explanation and brief of the places and icons. Time given at Bern for shopping and lunch is ok. Kambly biscuits tour was fun when understanding its origins as well as the plentiful biscuits for you to savour even if you do not buy any. Cheese factory tour was also satisfactory although we did not quite like the taste of the cheese produced at Emmental.

Very good trip. All the sites are worth to visit: buscuit and Emmenthal cheese factories were very interesting, Bern is beautiful. The guide was wonderful.

Enjoyed this tour a lot. The biscuit factory was a great stop. I enjoyed being able to sample the biscuits before purchasing some. I was really impressed with our guide she had a cooler to keep our biscuits in until we return back to Zurich. Though it is the factory location you don't actually go into the factory just the outlet. I LOVED Bern. The cheese farm was a great stop. The only thing I could say that would have made my day better would have been to have more time in Bern. Otherwise the trip was great and the tour guide was awesome!

Amazing history... Spectacular architecture... and yummy cookies and cheese! Can't go wrong! This day was jammed packed but enjoyed every minute of it. Time was a bit tight so I opted for a quick bite so I would not miss anything in Bern. Great tour and would do it again!
