What You Can Expect

Rhine Falls Tour from Zurich

Drive through the town of Schaffhausen on your way to the Rhine Falls

Start your 3.5-hour Rhine Falls tour from Central Zurich or Zurich Airport. Board your comfortable coach for a scenic drive past the rolling vineyards and charming villages of northern Switzerland alongside the border of Germany. Throughout the tour, hear informative commentary from your guide about the region's sights, history and culture.

After a photo stop to view the medieval Laufen Castle (Schloss Laufen), perched on a forested cliff-top overlooking Rhine Falls, arrive at the site of Europe's largest waterfall. Savor an hour of free time here to pose for photos against the magnificent cascades, which reach 450 feet (150 meters) wide and 75 feet (23 meters) tall.

Take advantage of unbeatable panoramas from the viewing platforms and opt for a summertime boat ride (June to August only; payable direct) that delivers you to the middle of Rhine Falls, where you can admire their full glory.

On the return drive to Zurich, pass through Schaffhausen, where you can see the distinctive circular Munot Fortress, which was built in the 16th century. Your guide drops off passengers at Zurich Airport around midday and concludes at Sihlquai Bus Terminal, making it easy for onward travel.

The tour of Rheinfall in Zurich, Switzerland is a must! I've been to Niagara falls lots of times, but Rheinfalls is definitely my favorite of the two. With the picturesque backdrop of all that is beautiful in nature, with the waters gushing and being close enough to almost touch it, was very thrilling. It is a sight to see!

Great short trip. If you have few hours to kill, I will recommend taking the 3.5 hours trip.
it's about 1 hour drive to each direction and another 1.5 hours in the falls it's enough.
