Expérience géniale. J'ai adoré le petit format de tournée. Dave, notre guide, était tout simplement fantastique. Nous a montré un peu le port avant de se rendre à Hobbiton. Il était tellement arrangeant et tout simplement super gentil! Le timing de toute la tournée était tout simplement parfait. Jamais senti pressé. Nous n'avons jamais vu les films Hobbit ou Lord of the Rings et n'avons jamais lu les livres. C'était toujours fantastique. Ça vaut bien le temps et l'argent.

Nous ne sommes pas fans des films mais c'était un cadre magnifique, le guide était super et maintenant nous allons regarder les films. Cependant, sachez que ce n'est pas une visite pour toute personne ayant des problèmes de mobilité.

Thanks for the review, and yes there is a fair bit of walking along paths and up and down steps. The walk takes about 90 minutes but as there are lots of stops along the way as you go round the movie set, you are probably only walking about 1.5 kilometres [about a mile] So its not suitable for wheel chair users or those needing walking aids. For these clients we can request a shorter tour by golf buggy, but these must be booked in advance and are in limited supply. So best to read the full tour details before booking this tour. Le guide John est très gentil et compétent. Cependant, l'agent de tournée n'honore pas l'arrangement en petit groupe, le nombre de membres est supérieur à 20. Nous devons être décidés par deux groupes dans The the hobbit movie village. Le groupe est en outre mélangé avec d'autres personnes, encore pire en termes de nombre de personnes. Nous ne devrions pas facturer par petit groupe et mettre en place un grand groupe qui diminue considérablement la qualité de la visite.

Thanks for your feedback. You are correct in the fact that Hobbiton's guided tours are done in quite large numbers, usually of arounf 40 to 45 persons. This is controlled by Hobbiton, not us. This is one of the most popular destinations in New Zealand with almost one million visitors expected this year. They operate tours every 10 minutes from 0830 to 1730 every day and usually they are full. We do usually run smaller coaches on this tour, 16 to 22 seaters as there is such a demand for this tour. When we get to Hobbiton then the customers have to join one of the scheduled tours of 40 to 45 persons. Some days we do run smaller groups [today we had 3 persons in a 15 seater minibus] but these clients will still have to join the main public tours. You can book a private tour for up to 4 persons but the cost is $750 just for the entry and guide at Hobbiton, these are in limited supply as they only run on the hour. One day last we we took almost 200 persons to Hobbiton and used 8 vehicles to do so [Ovation of the Seas]. So i am sorry that you were not 100% happy with the numbers on the tour but this is outside of our control. We do offer the option of running a Private vehicle just for you, we have cars [2 to 3 persons] and then minivans from 5 to 18 seats, so if you really want a smaller group tour then these are the tours you needed to book, the cost of course is much higher than just booking a seat on a shared tour. We have clients literally begging us to find them seats at Hobbiton it is so popular and even tourists not on a cruise are now booking a Hobbiton tour as we are one of the few companies who have reserved places at Hobbiton. We will take on board your comments to see if the tour description needs to be changed to reflect just how busy Hobbiton can be. Regards Ian

Thanks for the review, Hobbiton is such a great destination, expensive entry cost of $84 is included in our tour cost, but these are only NZ dollars so much cheaper in real money [USD]. Regards Ian

Our cruise ship was unable to dock due to weather conditions. This company learned the information before I did and immediately issued a refund. Throughout the process they kept in contact and responded to inquiries immediately. If I ever have such an opportunity in the future I would surely book with them again.

Great service when I had to cancel. The cruise ship was unable to dock, and the tour operator quickly arranged for a full refund even though it was a few hours before the tour was due to start. Very happy with the service and recommend that you can book with complete confidence .

We booked a cruise that was stopping in Tauranga and we planned to take the Hobbiton movie set to tour. From the very beginning it was an easy process to book and we received confirmation and communication from the tour company answering all of our questions. Unfortunately when we arrived the weather did not permit are ship to dock at the Port. We honestly were devastated because of this as Hobbiton was at the top of our list in reasons to come to New Zealand. I immediately reached out to see if the tour operator would be able to rebook us at a later date. We fortunately had plans to visit New Zealand at the end of the cruise. Our possible dates to visit Hobbiton were quite limited and they were unable to offer us a tour however they gave us information that was very useful in being able to book with another company.
in spite of the fact that they had over a hundred bookings they had to cancel because of the failure of the ship to dock they very quickly reached out to us with a personal message letting us know that they had already refunded our tour. It included a reply to my message and instructions on how to book for a later date with a different company.
I would highly recommend that you book with them. You can have utmost confidence that you will be well taken care of.
