This is a great day trip from Milan. It was interesting to hear the history of the area and see the scenery on both the bus ride to St Moritz and the train ride from St. Moritz to Tirano. Our tour guide (Ornella) and bus driver were both amazing. Highly recommended!

It was a great tour. I enjoyed it very much. I love sightseeing, the mountains, the lakes, the train ride.

Worth Every Penny and A Few Tips
Bridget_N, Nov 2025
DeeDee was wonderful guide, very knowledgeable and kept the group going to limit time waste. The trip itself is a 10/10 and highly recommend for anyone to do it if they have the time and funds. Definitely worth the cost, which is reasonable for the transportation, scenic views, and amount of time we spent traveling and having a guide. Would have enjoyed more time in St. Moritz to shop and explore but it is a beautiful place to take in the views and experience something different. If you plan to leave from Milan to St. Moritz, be sure to have CHF and not Euros or a credit card to use to purchase items. Again, highly recommend anyone to take the time to do this trip. The Bernina Express is totally worthwhile. Make sure to get a window seat, so plan to meet up at the train a little early to get prime seating.
It was very informative...
MaryPeace_L, Nov 2025
It was very informative and the views were breathtaking. Only thing is the windows were left a little bit too long… we got a bit too cold. But otherwise good trip
Fun but not worth it
Shamini_G, Oct 2025
Visiting St Moritz and taking the train were amazing experiences. However a lot of the tour time is spent on the bus traveling up and down, and visiting St Moritz during off peak season means it’s literally a dead town.
Response from Host, Oct 2025
Thank you for your feedback — we're glad you enjoyed the train ride and the beauty of St. Moritz! We’d just like to clarify that the travel times are clearly indicated in the tour description, as the Bernina itinerary naturally involves several hours by bus due to the distance covered. As for St. Moritz, it’s true that during the *off-season* the town is quieter, but unfortunately *seasonality is not something we can control*. Many travelers actually prefer this time of year for a more peaceful, crowd-free experience. We always aim to provide full transparency so guests can make informed decisions.
Packed Tour
CHRISTINA_L, Oct 2025
Mixed feelings, the excursion is more of a packed shuttle service. Didn't learn much from the tour guide. Tour bus was completely packed and one train cargo was completely packed. If you dont like large groups 50+ then this excursion may not be for you. Train ride was cold, everyone left there windows down, also when boarding people shoved to get on the train wanting window seats that prevented me from seating next to my husband. Got back at 8pm not 7pm. You can ride the train from the Italy side in a closed window train with bigger seats then ride it back as well.
Response from Host, Oct 2025
We would like to clarify a few important points. The type of train used for this tour is clearly specified in the activity description: we use the panoramic carriage with openable windows to give guests the opportunity to take photos without glare or reflection—something many travelers deeply appreciate. Regarding the return time, the bus arrived approximately 20 minutes later than expected due to normal traffic conditions. This is a rare but understandable delay when traveling by road, and we always do our best to keep within the schedule. As for the number of participants, the group size is clearly stated before booking. If you already knew that the train ride from Tirano could be taken independently from Milan, it’s unclear why you chose to join a guided tour instead. We’re always open to feedback that helps improve our service, but it's also important to base reviews on accurate and fair expectations.
Worthwhile during any season
Lisa_G, Oct 2025
Given the season we travelled, I was uncertain whether visiting the alps would be disappointing however it greatly exceeded my expectations. It is a big day but organised in a way that was clear, helpful and well communicated. Our guide was knowledgeable And the balance between group time and free time suited us. The train trip, while only part of the experience was long enough (over 2 hours) and the bus ride to St Moritz was a feature of the trip rather also with gorgeous views, skilled driving and snow capped mountains in the distance.
Long Day
Maria_C, Oct 2025
Fine trip if you want a little taste of Switzerland. Long day. Had already done Lake como and Switzerland. This was very similar . Very knowledgeable guide, Alendro
Fun Journey
Jessica_B, Oct 2025
It is a long day, but worth it to see the alps and experience St. Moritz. It would have been nice to stop a bit to see Lake Como but there is another tour for that.
Great day
Amy_P, Oct 2025
A long but totally fantastic day. Knowledgeable guide (Alejandro) who gave great instructions and tidbits and a fabulous driver who knew what he was doing on mountain roads and in the city.
Beautifully disappointing
Maricsabel_C, Oct 2025
There is almost no time in St Moritz. The day is extremely long, as expected however we had almost no time to explore the town and many shops were closed for their lunch breaks while there
The best way to see Switzerland in a day!
Penny_H, Oct 2025
Wonderful day trip to the Alps! Our tour guide was awesome and the train trip was very enjoyable with amazing views!
It was a great trip!...
Katrina_Z, Oct 2025
It was a great trip! Highly recommend! If you get motion sickness 10/10 recommend taking something for it as the bus goes through very narrow and twisty roads at the beginning.
Rainy Day
Chip_S, Oct 2025
Unfortunately, for us, it was rainy and overcast, which limited disability. Seating was uncomfortable for larger people on both the bus and the train.
Expensive second class ride.
Marcos_A, Oct 2025
Only a small part of the trip was made by train (Tirana - St. Moritz, one-way). Very expensive price for just a simple ride.
Response from Host, Oct 2025
Thank you for your feedback. With a departure from Milan, it’s unfortunately not possible to include a longer route without significantly extending the tour duration by several hours. Additionally, the section of the journey that takes place by train is clearly stated in the tour description, and we trust you had the opportunity to review this information before booking. We appreciate your understanding and hope you still enjoyed the beauty of the experience.
Scenery for days...
Nicole_G, Oct 2025
Well worth it....the trip to St. Moritz and the time to get there. Lovely sights and of course the beautiful lake Como. St. Moritz is a glorious little town in a gorgeous setting. The air was crisp, cool, and refreshing . The Bernina Train, I would do it 100 times over. I bet everytime would be a different feast for the eyes. The scenery an outstanding feast for the eyes. Our tour guide was good. The only complaint would be the bus ride. Not it's length , that was to be expected...but it was warm and very stuffy both directions!! As well as bright lights inside all the way back in dark. No rest of you are light sensitive . And in wanting to keep down the possibilities for traffic, after we left the train itself there was no bathroom break...straight to the bus and no stop. It was kind of uncomfortable. It isn't exactly a short trip . All in all, 100% would do it again. Would maybe just hope for a better bus experience. Overall would highly recommend this journey.
Story Book Land
Denise_G, Oct 2025
Very nice!!! I enjoy this tour very much. The rolling hills and little towns along the way. Sort of story book land. The train ride was amazing. And the tour guide perfect!
The bus ride to St....
Bela_G, Oct 2025
The bus ride to St. Moritz went by Lake Como with descriptions from the tour guide. However there were so many tunnels that obstructed the view. Driving up the switchback roads to St. Moriz gave some amazing views. However while we had almost 2 hours in St. Moritz there really wasn't much to see except for the stores we walked by on the way to have a Hot Chocolate. The best views were on the Train ride which were awesome. If you only have a day this is the best way to go.

It is completely worth it. If you wonder about mother nature this is a trip you have to do. Our guide was pretty nice and friendly.
