Itinerary

Take a break from the city for an adventurous day of hiking set among the beautiful outdoor scenery outside Bogotá on this visit to two of the country’s most impressive waterfalls.

Begin your day with pickup from your hotel in Bogotá and drive to the East Hills, a series of rolling forest-covered peaks set among the Andes mountain range. As your transportation heads ever higher into the mountains, listen as your guide shares details of the area’s geology, and check out the breathtaking views from the roadside cliffs and chasms below.

Start your hike through the area’s bright green forests, heading toward your first stop, the waterfall of El Chiflón. Once you arrive at this pounding torrent of water, feel climb behind the falls for a unique view, or jump into the inviting turquoise waters below to cool off. Please Note: The authorities of the Park need to authorize our visit so the decision depends on them.

Your guide will provide a local snack to help you refuel before moving on to the next waterfall.

Head back into the forests for a strenuous hike to the towering La Chorrera waterfall. The route up to this stunning site offers an opportunity to observe the region’s diverse plant life, including bromeliads, juniper, orchids, sapodilla, cedar, and mahogany. Soon you’ll hear the roar of this natural wonder in the distance. Arrive at this 1,936-foot (590m) tall waterfall, taking a moment to get a few pictures and cool off before beginning the return hike.

Finish your day back in La Candelaria or via Choachi, with a traditional Colombian lunch and time for some quick sightseeing. Finish your day with a return trip back to your Bogotá hotel.

Please note: this tour involves traveling and hiking at altitudes ranging from 6,309 to 8,530 feet (1,923 to 2,600m) above sea level.

Doriel was my tour guide. Ask for him when you book. My guide was informative, knowledgeable and knew sooo much not only about the chorrera and chiflon but about all other towns in colombia and what you can and cannot do. They picked me up on time the driver Jorge is very professional and an overall great driver. I loved that Doriel did not try to rush me and whenever I had questions he will stop and answer me. Honestly the trip was supposed to be 6hrs but took 7hrs because we were going at a much slower pace. Doriel understood this was my first time gave me tips on how to step on the road and what to watch out for. Please bring an extra pair of clothes, 2bottles of water and money in cash because there is this cute little Cuban restaurant after you come down from the chiflon that serves the best ropa vieja, I felt so bad I did not have cash on me because I left it in the car. P.s. if you don’t find what you looking for in viator or TripAdvisor ask Doriel they respond to WhatsApp messages and are very attentive to your well being. Will be returning next year!!

Beautiful tour with awesome guide
George_P, Jul 2023
Our guide, Diego, was very knowledgeable about the area, the plants, and even helped with some bird watching. He was lovely. Thank you!
Worth it!
Christopher_T, May 2023
Everything was perfect, it was exhausting but totally worth it! The guide was very friendly and even though I booked this tour just for me, it was good.
Good but very expensive
Leah_F, Mar 2023
I enjoyed the trip but it had some downsides The driver and guide were excellent, the walk itself interesting, well signposted , had beautiful scenery and was well worth a trip However, there was a cycle race on the day in Bogotá, which meant the road there was closed to traffic, consequently the drive to the park took two hours longer than planned and was along a very bumpy detour We were charged the equivalent of £240 for the trip , an expensive fee which I cannot see as justified given the service provided
We had a wonderful time!...
Rajeev_M, Dec 2022
We had a wonderful time! The tour was a little pricey, but worth every penny as it was just us and the guide. For most of the hike, we didn't see any other people, and our guide was constantly telling us about different plants, animals, and people who live in the area. The waterfalls were gorgeous though the water flow was a little less than normal because it was dry season. The hiking is no joke, it's around 5.6 miles and plenty of slippery gravel and elevation change, so definitely wear hiking boots! Also, lunch was fantastic at a local restaurant!
This Tour is a Must!
Hollie_M, Dec 2022
Doriel was a fantastic guide! He was is very professional and knowledgable about the landscape of the area. The tour was on time and provided reliable transportation. I highly recommend this tour to groups and solo travelers. It was great to visit the waterfalls, and not have to worry about how to get there or manage admission fees. The waterfalls are absolutely stunning! It was raining the day we did our hike, but that did not take away from the amazing experience!
Response from Host, Dec 2022
Agreed! I actually think the rain adds so much more lushness to the landscape and the misty mountain range. Glad to hear you had a great time with Doriel.
Naturally Stunning Hike

This extraordinary hike was amazing! Hilton as expert driver and Daniel as my hiker guide were just wonderful. If you can spare a day, don’t miss this activity. Note: This area wasn’t accessible for many years, but fortunately with the new peace and safety hikers can now hike in.
Response from Host, Sep 2022
Great to see that you had a good time, this mighty waterfall is indeed a must when in Bogota. And you are right, times are changing in Colombia and is wonderful to be part of it! Thank you!
Beautiful trek!

The hike was very beautiful and Luis was very helpful, knowledgeable, and patient (even when I wasn’t feeling well). He made sure I made it to the airport on time even though I got sick in the car :(. Highly recommend!
Response from Host, Sep 2022
ouch! was it the winding road? I hope you made it safe. Glad you liked the hike, it is truly beautiful.

Beauty all around
Erikbueno, Apr 2022
Raul was great. He and the driver were on time and included a nice car. Raul spoke English very well and had excellent information about the hike, area and Bogota. The hike was beautiful, stoped at 2 different waterfalls and beauty all around.
Quite demanding, but rewarding
Ognjenka_O, Dec 2021
We really had a great time hiking to La Chorrera and we are glad that we booked our tour. Our guide Andreas was really cool and easy going, he was knowledgeable and and provided many useful info. The trail itself is quite demanding and it can be very hard at certain points due to slippery rocks and tree roots, steep ascents and descents. I would not recommend to anyone who has walking problems or any other health issues. The nature and landscape is amazing. There are so many points for great pictures. The waterfall was unique and we were lucky there was enough water coming down. Sometimes when it does not rain for sometime, you can see only few drops and it will be disappointing. It is always important to check before the departure what conditions to expect. Overall it was an amazing experience and we really enjoyed it.
Just do it!!

Magical!

Amy_P, Jul 2021
Amazing experience. The waterfalls are magical and worth the hike. It is very muddy and hard to ascend at times. Make sure to have hiking boots and active clothes. This is more difficult than I thought initially, but worth every penny and time spent. Our guide was amazing and even played music while we meditated at a beautiful picturesque spot. Give Felipe a raise!! He was amazing!
It was ok
MauiBoi, Mar 2021
It was ok. We had to leave early due to holiday traffic and since it was so early the fog had not cleared over the top of the mountains or falls. If we would have left closer to the original time the fog would have cleared as it was clearing on our way back from the falls. Didn’t get to see much of the falls. It was a good hike make sure you are use to the elevation before you go. The tour guide was nice.

Hello Brandon, thanks for taking the time to let us know your feedback, it's important for us to know how can we improve our services. I'm glad that you enjoyed the tour with your driver and guide. We apologize for the weather conditions, we did change the pick up time one hour before in order to avoid you spending an extra hour in traffic, since it was the beginning of the Ostern Holiday, but it was hard to predict when the clouds will clear. Kind regards, Juliana

Amazing!
Keren B, Oct 2019
This excursion was wonderful. The hike was strenuous but well worth the views. We were picked up from our hotel at 8 am, we had a one hour car ride with stunning views to the hiking trail and we hiked for ~2.5 hours through the mountain and to the falls. We stopped for a delicious lunch on the way back from our hike. Our guide was WONDERFUL!
Response from Host, Oct 2019

Great views and hike
Diane_P, Oct 2019
The hike itself is awesome, not too much vertical however the path has a very uneven surface. It was raining the day we went and were very glad we had hiking shoes, good idea regardless if raining or not. It was also foggy but we lucked out and had a break in the weather just in time to see the whole waterfall. Our guide, Andres, was very informative almost to a fault. We stopped and had lunch on the path which was one of our best meals of our trip to Colombia, I would highly recommend eating on the hike. Overall, I would recommend this excursion.
Response from Host, Oct 2019

Amazing Hike
Nicholas_M, Jun 2019
We had an awesome time hiking to the two waterfalls. José was the perfect guide on the trip, and he took into consideration our meal preferences when selecting the lunch spot. We would definitely do this tour again. Before you book, contact the agency and ask when José would be available to serve as your guide!
La Chorrera
jerrady, Jan 2019
I enjoyed getting out of the city and experiencing this hike. The park is beautiful. The actual activity was a bit tougher than I expected - would definitely recommend good hiking shoes with grips, and ensure you are up for lots of steep inclines and rocks. This attraction had less commentary about history, etc. It was mainly focused on the walk and being in nature.
An amazing experience with an amazing guide
Adam_G, Oct 2018
Wow what an experience, spending 6 hours one on one with my guide Felipe, travelling from Bogota to La chorrerra and back. The driver was great, the conversation was fascinating, the weather was... so so! Hiking up to La Chorerra was quite touch, the altitude and steep climbs made it a bit more than a medium challenge I would say.The waterfall itself was magnificent and then lunch looking over El Chiffron was a great way to finish.
