Our driver, Wasim, was super friendly and helpful.
The drive to Ranthambore is about 3.5 hours each way. You get picked up around 7.30 am, meaning you get to Ranthambore just before 11.00 am.
The driver took us to Ranthambore Fort, where we stopped for one hour. Then we had lunch at a nearby hotel.
The safari itself started at 2.00 pm and finished just after 6.00 pm. It's in an open top bus, but that wasn't an issue. You are unlikely to see any less than if you have a jeep to yourself. If anything you might see more as you're sitting higher up than you would if in a car.
We did see a tiger right at the end (albeit a sleeping tiger). The guide said that when we went (March) there's a 40 percent chance of seeing a tiger. In the summer it's 90%, apparently. We also saw a sloth bear (albeit from afar). That's a rarer sighting than a tiger.
You're guaranteed to see lots of monkeys and deer. You might also see owls and mongooses.
Be prepared to get back to Jaipur around 10.00 pm!
Overall, a great experience.

Firstly, we want to make it clear that our rating and feedback are not a reflection on the driver or the company we booked through.
Our driver, Ishak Khan, was outstanding — punctual, kind, and consistently went out of his way to make our trip more comfortable. Some examples that stood out: Ishak pulled over to shield our windows from the sun with fabric, moved our water bottles into an esky to keep them cold during our safari, and even stepped in to help us communicate when there was a language barrier at a restaurant.
Ishak is genuinely the best tour driver we’ve had across our many travels in India. He is a wonderful, kind family man, and we wish him and his family all the best.
Unfortunately, the tiger safari experience itself did not meet our expectations, which is why we cannot recommend this tour.
While we fully understand that tiger sightings are never guaranteed in a national park, the poor organization and behavior we witnessed made the experience uncomfortable:
• After passport checks at the gate, four local men abruptly boarded our already-full canter. We’re unsure if they were connected to the driver or had valid tickets, but their behavior — loudly moving around, creating seat confusion, eating, — made all the foreign travelers uneasy.
• During the first tiger sighting, one of these men littered by throwing a plastic bottle out of the canter. Despite a mild warning from the guide, they continued to rip up paper and litter around the truck. This showed a clear lack of respect for the park and its wildlife, especially when all visitors are repeatedly asked to protect the environment.
• Although the guide began with a brief English introduction, he mainly switched to Hindi after, likely due to the disruptive passengers. As a result, we received no ongoing commentary or explanations about the park or the animals, unlike other canters carrying mostly international guests.
Beyond the behavior of the passengers, we want to highlight that the journey to Ranthambore is extremely demanding:
• It’s nearly 4 hours each way from Jaipur through chaotic traffic,
• Followed by 3 hours sitting in an open canter exposed to the intense sun, heat, dust, and pollution.
• Altogether, the physical toll combined with the low chance of a tiger sighting made it a tiring and unhealthy day for us.
While we are glad to have learned about tiger conservation efforts, we met several other travelers who warned us (too late) that Ranthambore often leads to disappointment.
If you still decide to go, here are some strong recommendations:
• Bring a wide-brim UV-protective hat and sunglasses — the sun is brutal inside the park.
• Carry plenty of water — at least two bottles per person.
• Bring a face mask or scarf — the road into the park is extremely dusty and polluted.
• If possible, book a private Jeep tour instead of a canter. Jeeps seemed to get better access and visibility for wildlife sightings. The canters are uncomfortable, with dirty, sweaty seating, and passengers standing up block the view for others.
In summary:
We are truly grateful to Ishak for his care and professionalism. However, due to the overall disorganization, disruptive behavior by some passengers, and the exhausting nature of the trip, we cannot recommend this tour to others — even if you are fortunate enough to glimpse a tiger.

Hello Lily,
April is hot 40 degrees at the moment. You may be expect the sun effect in the afternoon safari. From April to July the weather in afternoon shift is like that.
There are total 10 zones in national park which each has limited number of jeeps and canter available. The government has set the rules to limit the vehicles inside the park so that there will be less pollution in the park.
Our first priority to book seats in jeep but if it full we need to go by canter. It is shared safari with others. You have spotted 3 tigers in the safari already.
We have noted your concerns feedback and forward to goverment officials for the behavior of the local tourist in the park.

On the safari the guide promised to show the tigers but we have seen 3 tigers
He is very polite and friendly to everyone
Response from Host, Apr 2025
Thank you Ravinder for the review. It was such a nice safari and the pictures are amazing of the tigers.

The traffic jam to get back from the temple was beyond crazy and left us only 20 minutes to order and eat lunch - which was nearly impossible.
We then got sent 2 fake passports, that we had to use to get in the park. Even though we had sent all of our own information beforehand - including passports! That made us very uncomfortable but non the less we got into the park. Then we got told that we were going to zone 6 by other passengers (which is further away than the closest zones) even though we got promised zone 1-5 when we booked the tour. The guide then told us that there is about 70 tigers in the park but only 2 live in zone 6. The zone is big... Which also meant that we probably weren't going to see much, which we didn't. We saw some deer and a few peacocks but the views of the park were nice at least. We then got told that the majority of the tigers are in zone 2-3, and to get in those zones you have to book months in advance. We would have liked to have known that, since it's quite a long drive from Jaipur to not have much of a chance to see anything. We were very disappointed.
On the upside we had a very nice and friendly driver.

At the time when we have booked your safari Zone 1 to Zone 5 was sold out. There were no seats remaining. Your travel dates were during the holi festival which is one of the biggest festival in India and the park get full already in advance due to holiday time for locals and for the tourists.
It's just part of the luck on the day as we never guarantee anyone to spot tigers. Our ratio to spot tigers are 70-80% compare to other providers.
We always do our best from our side so that our customers can spot tigers if they visit jungle.

The overall experience was excellent. Our Driver, Ishak Khan, was fantastic and helped us a lot. Unfortunately, we didn't see a tiger, but still had a fantastic ride to and fro from Jaipur.
The Ranthambore fort is pretty amazing but an excruciating climb in 92 F heat.
A word of caution, our safari guides had permission to enter Zone 10. I believe Zones 1 - 6, have better chance to see a tiger.
Also, the cantar shakes a lot on the dirt roads of the park and its literally a bone and back buster, so if you have any back or hip issues, please use caution. Perhaps a Jeep is better.

From pick up with excellent driver the trip was worthwhile. The drive itself was relaxing and driver careful and competent. The visit to the fort was good, but the tiger reserve excelled. This may be due to seeing tigers up close. Amazing sight, alongside monkeys, deer, antelopes and peacocks. I think we were fortunate to see the tigers as the morning tour did not experience this great observation. Tour guide on jeep humorous and engaging.
Overall trip was exceptional.

I bought the 2 safari trip to increase my chances of spotting a wild tiger. The first safari was fantastic. We went to Zone 3 and my guides were actively on the lookout for wild animals and we were lucky enough to see 2 tigers. One was sleeping and the other came very close to my vehicle. The 2nd safari the next day was terrible. We went to Zone 2 and the guides wasted so much time stopping the vehicle for long periods doing nothing. They also spent too much time stopping the vehicle to show us common deer and birds after we have already seen plenty. Everybody wants to see more rare animals like tigers, leopards and sloth bears. Also the time we were driving, the guide who was supposed to be on the lookout for animals was not looking for animals. He was either just staring at the road or having pointless conversations with other people. If not for the first safari i would have been very disappointed with my trip

Hello Jordan, Thank you for sharing the feedback. We will check upon the driver and guide on the second safari about your concerns raise and will took action on it.

Not only did I see one tiger I seen two. Both were very close. Also seen a sloth bear. I know it’s a hit or miss but I really lucked out.

Thank you Allen for the review. It was such a wonderful time with you in the tour. Wish you all best.

Neetu, the driver was excellent. Friendly and is a walking Google map.
The tour itself will be five star if not for the pouring monsoon rain on the way back. Didn’t see any tigers but did see some monkeys deer and peacocks.

We booked the day trip from Jaipur and we're pretty disappointed. The drive from Jaipur is long (as we expected), but the safari was disappointingly short and involved a 1.5 hour drive from the pickup location to a very distant park entrance (we got zone 9 by chance). This drive was in a large open air bus and mostly involved going through dusty farmland in the hot sun. By the time we got to the park entrance, we only had time for about a 45-minute loop in the park. Saw some deer and birds and what looked like fake tiger tracks. Then we did the 1.5 hour drive back to the pickup location and then the 4 hour drive back to Jaipur. In total, was about 14 hours in the car for 45 mins of underwhelming nature.
The cherry on top was that after we were already on our way to the safari, we got a call telling us that our group of 4 had been split up on two tours and that one of us had to go alone. It was frustrating to hear this so late when we had no recourse, but at least it was a assured that I (a man) would be the one in a different bus than my wife and our friends. When we got to the bus loading area, we were told that my friend (a woman who was uncomfortable going alone) was actually the one isolated on a different bus. There was plenty of space for all of us to fit on one bus, but we were told passport control at the gate would not let us in. After 30 minutes of arguing, all the buses but one had left, and my three friends went without me. Our driver from Jaipur then was nice enough to drive me to catch up with the buses and then at long last they just let me get on. When we got to the gate of the park, the government officials barely looked at our group and just waved us through. So it was a ton of stress in which they bullied my friend to move to a different bus than could have all been avoided.
Our driver from Jaipur was good, but the booking company did not do a good job at all to ensure we were together or got a good zone in the park. I understand they might not have control of this, but the lack of upfront communication about this was truly disappointing. It's probably the worst excursion I've ever done while traveling, and although we got unlucky with our zone and booking, I don't think it's woryh all the driving for a very small chance of seeing cool wildlife.
Response from Host, Mar 2024
Dear Alan,
We are sorry for the experiance. Booking the safari tickets is not in our hands as this system operate by forest officers goverment in the National Park. You have booked the tour just a couple days before and did not submitted us the passport details. We have sent you the message mutiple time to send the passport details to book safari in time with a good Zone.
At the end when we get the safari booked. The zone's was full and it allowed only 3 people in your group in one Zone and 1 seat reservation made in different zone. This make your group become seprated.
We are not happy by this but we don't have control over the Goverment Officials in seats allotment at the last moment.
