If you are staying in Auckland, please arrive at downtown Auckland ferry terminal located at 99 Quay st. by no later than 9:00am, as you will still need to purchase your Ferry Ticket to Waiheke Island. Once your tickets have been purchased, please join the queue to ensure you make the 10am sailing from Auckland - Waiheke Island. There are two ferry services operating to Waiheke Island. Tickets can also be purchased online to save time on the day. Island Direct - islanddirect.co.nz (guaranteed seat when purchased) Fullers - fullers.co.nz (these are walk up tickets, so first come first on basis) On arrival to Waiheke Island, please look out for one of our representatives, who will be holding a sign board with your name on it, to welcome you to our beautiful Island. "our welcome board looks like a little surfboard"

We had the pleasure of being guided by Margot who was a wonderful tour guide. She was kind, knowledgeable and made the entire tour a fun experience for us. We were able to stop in the village briefly to explore before our first tasting and Margot provided fun and interesting facts about New Zealand, Auckland and Waiheke. She shared great information about the history and culture of the country throughout the tour and kept us engaged throughout. We had an amazing time and would love to return for another tour some day!

Trip was absolutely fantastic and far exceeded my expectations. The island is beautiful and the vineyards (& wines) were all amazing and so different. I was travelling solo which worried me before I went however I met such lovely people it was wonderful from start to finish. The ferry ride to the island was a treat too. Our guide was superb.

This is a great small group tour. The wines were very good, and the scenery is outstanding! I highly recommend! Margot met us at the ferry dock, and hosted us at 4 different wineries. Each was unique and provided an excellent overview of wineries on Waiheke. We had a wonderful time!

We had the loveliest time on this wine tour, it was the perfect way to spend a relaxing day! Nydia was a fantastic tour guide sharing fun facts about Waiheke and showing us around the island. The vineyards we visited were beautiful and the wine was delicious. Everything was seamless - our tastings were reserved so when we showed up everything was ready. The people who led the tastings at each vineyard were also wonderful - I learned so much!

What a great day we had with our tour guide Heidi De Vries. We started with a great cup of coffee and then we visited four exceptional wineries, with lunch at Stonyridge Vineyard. Heidi shared stories about her island as well as the wines we tasted. We experienced true New Zealand weather cold, windy, sunny and hot in one day. Truly a marvelous and relaxing day.

Worth doing if short on time in Auckland

Had a great day. I’m a non drinker and essentially went along as it was a birthday treat for my husband. I was not made to feel uncomfortable with hot drinks and refreshments offered at all wineries. Lunch was my only criticism as it was so busy and our order was forgotten. Our group was brilliant and vehicle and guide great. It’s a great way to see the beautiful Island and learn some facts along the way.

Wonderful day with a fabulous tour guide (Netta) in a small van. We experienced 3 very different wineries plus a delightful lunch at the highest point on the island. Included were various points of interest and vistas along the way. The only thing I'd suggest woukd be that bottles of water maybe be on the van.... overall highly recommend!

Wow Fantastic day with Heidi more than a tour guide bus driver ,she made you feel Kline you’ve known her for years Island was not what I expected( in a great way ) Wineries were amazing I loved Postage stamp myself great introductions to the wines ! Scenarios were amazing and the lovely Heidi even drove me back to the other port as o booked the other ferry company lol

Wineries were beautiful and Heidi was an amazing guide! I wanted to stay on the island a little longer after the tour and asked if she could drop me off back up the hill. Not only did she do that, but stuck around and brought me back down to the ferry. Had such a good day and drank some great wine!

Travelling solo I always get nervous doing group tours as sometimes I can feel left out but the tour guide Heidi made me feel welcomed right away . She was really knowledgeable about the island giving us lots of information . We stopped at 3 vineyards which each included wine tasting and we ended up having 11 tasting throughout the day . We then had the choice to have lunch at another vineyard (which I would recommend as the food and the view was incredible !) or you can be dropped off in Oneroa and find someone else .i really recommend this company , yes the price of lunch is not included BUT if you add the cost of lunch to the cheap day trip then it is the same price as the other tours with you having more choice over what you want to eat . I would recommend whether you’re a solo traveller , couple or as a group .

Wineries of Waiheke Island

The beauty and flavors of the island. Three wineries and a stop for lunch which was not included in price. The food was very good. I enjoyed the views of Mudbrick vineyards but didn’t like the presentation or being in the greenhouse since there are no place to sit. The 2nd winery was Stonyridge and loved the presentation under the olive trees! The 3rd winery, Postage Stamp, was rushed since we were short on time but was nice. All in all, it was a lovely day.

Had a fantastic time. Our driver and guide, Heidi, was bubbly, fun and full of information. Also enjoyed the company of an Auklander out for the day with his 2 daughters. They were a riot! Obviously out for a good time!! The three wineries visited covered the range from a newer winery just getting established, to a long established one with outstanding premises and views for miles across the island. At each we were greeted by a wine expert who provided guided tastings and details of the winery's history. Had a truly great day!

Heidi was a very fun and lovely tour guide that we had on our visit to Waiheke! She is very knowledgeable about all the different kinds of grapes grown on the island and had lots of stories to share about the island and wineries that we went to. We also got very lucky with the group that we were with, we all got along very well and had such a great time. Waiheke reminded me very much of Napa and Hawaii and Cape Town all meddled into one beautiful harmonious place. We would definitely come back and tour again!

Fun trip with some good winery stops. The tasting hosts did a good job explaining the wines and a little about the winery. Felt a bit rushed at times, an extra hour or so to include a tour of one of the wineries/production areas and not just a tasting would have been nice. Never felt pressured to buy bottles, but they were available. Lunch wasn't included but what we purchased was delicious and the views were amazing. Our guide was knowledgeable and kept everything organized.

What a fantastic day. Heidi was a wonderful guide, there to pick us up from the ferry and then we were off! Heidi was interesting and informative, the vineyards were interesting, had lovely views of the islands and plenty of info on the wines, and the day flew in. Some other reviewers have complained about stopping at a vineyard for lunch (much wasn’t included in the price). This was a great part of the trip - the food and drink were excellent value for the quality, quantity and setting and we loved this part of the day - no, it isn’t McDonalds, but on a day like this, it is part of the experience and worth every penny! Thank you for a wonderful memorable day Heidi - would highly recommend! Lesley

Priceless Memory - One for the Photo Books!

After researching the wine tour options, I elected to go with The Wine Tasting Company's Waiheke Island Winery Tour and it was excellent. It was so easy to come over to the island on the ferry from Auckland and I was met by Heidi, the driver/guide. We had a small group of nine, which was great and we headed out in a comfortable air conditioned van. On our way Heidi kept us entertained with information about the island, its culture, the vineyards and the beaches. We visited four vineyards, had scheduled tastings at three (Mudbrick, Postage Stamp and Miro) and the availability of more wine at Stonyridge, where we lunched at our own cost. Each of the visited vineyards was a different experience and there was more than adequate time to enjoy the vineyard, the tastings and make any purchases without feeling rushed. Mudbrick hands down had the scenic views and an excellent Sauvignon Blanc. Postage Stamp was an idylic stop that had the entire group sitting together and tasting the wines, which led to some great pictures and stories. Casita Miro won the award for the funkiest vineyard, its excellect Malbec, foccaccia bread and the small food pairings with its tasting. Lunch at Stonyridge was relaxing with the option for more wine. A leisurely drive back to the ferry with amusing commentary from Heidi and some wonderful beach views made us all wish for our bathing suits. Heidi asked if anyone wanted to go anywhere else and three of us requested rides to the beach and/or shopping areas. Heidi graciously drove us to our requested spots, arranged a pickup time and got us to the ferry. This was above and beyond anything I expected when I booked this tour. I know that I made my fellow cruisers jealous when I inquired about their wine tours and they said they were fine and I just couldn't stop enthusing about the wonderful experience that I had with my tour!
